Introducing the Athenaeum Five Year Zine preorder!
Preorders will be open until Monday, August 10th.
We are in the final stages of editing our proofs and plan on printing sometime in early to mid-August with the goal of shipping end of August into early September.
- Keep in mind that we primarily sell original art and we occasionally publish books, so please be patient as we fulfill orders. We will do our best to ship out as quickly as possible.
- Shipping on domestic orders will be $10, $30 to Canada, and $40 to elsewhere in the world. I know that international shipping is kind of insane (Note: we aren't making ANY money on shipping these books), we are working through some potential ways to save on costs for international folks. You may want to purchase some art and to bundle shipping together. I am happy to hand carry some of them during my occasional international trips.
- All proceeds after costs are met will go to future Athenaeum Gives Awards. So, your money will go to a good cause!
About the Athenaeum Five Year Zine:
Athenaeum Comic Art has proudly partnered with the co-creators of the Eisner nominated Canon Comics Zine to produce the Athenaeum Five Year Zine! This 70 page plus full color comics zine on glossy paper is a true love letter to all things original art.
As Athenaeum Comic Art enters its fifth year in business, we wanted to celebrate our accomplishments and our communities. The zine includes short interviews with owners with many Athenaeum artists, a brand new On A Sunbeam story by Tillie Walden, conversations with original art collectors, quotes from influential folks in the business, and LOTS of beautiful Athenaeum artist created art. The goregous cover is by Lee Lai and the fantastic Athenaeum ad on the back is by Sam Grinberg. There are a number of sketches that were made specifically for the zine as well as rare commissions from the best cartoonists around.
Honestly, we are so incredibly proud of this book. It turned out better than we could have ever possibly imagined and we hope that you like it too! This zine captures a specific time in growth of contemporary indie/alt original comic art and it is a must-have for art collectors and fans of this space in comics.
